Home Car Charging Solutions (HCSS)

When electric cars starting to become mainstream around five years ago, the team behind an electrical company based in Pembury, near Tunbridge Wells, saw an opportunity and launched Home Car Charging Solutions (HCCS). At that point, the company was fitting around three a month. Fast forward to March this year (2022), HCCS was fitting 80 charge points per week. From two engineers, it now has eight specialising in this work. 

Today HCCS is an authorised installer of electric vehicle charge points for homes and businesses throughout London and the South East. It prides itself on keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in the fast-growing and ever-changing electric vehicle industry. 

When the business launched, Caroline Reilly, Installations & Projects Manager, says that she ‘cobbled together’ a website using WordPress, simply to ‘get something out there’. Recently, though, she recognised that the business needed something more professional. A friend recommended Target Ink to Caroline – as his business was already working with us.

“I felt encouraged by the fact that this was a recommendation and I also liked the fact that Target Ink were local to us,” says Caroline. “I realise that nowadays that doesn’t really matter but it gave me peace-of-mind that I could have a face-to-face meeting if I needed to.”

Caroline had a deadline for the website to go live and we reassured her that we could meet that date – and we did, indeed, deliver.

“Rob took time during our first consultation to understand our business and who our target audience is,” she says. “When the initial design was delivered to us, we were really impressed by how modern it looked. It really was a ‘wow’ moment. The new website was so different and so much better than what we already had.”

We recommended a copywriter to help with the content, while also looking at keywords and supporting the website with SEO. 

“In addition to the design, the website opens quicker and is much easier to navigate; our old website was really clunky,” Caroline adds. “Our website is our shop window to the business and it’s vital that is looks good on every platform – including on mobile devices.”

Caroline says that she really appreciates the benefits of being on Target Ink’s maintenance and support package. 

“Everything is included and it’s good that there are no unexpected bills,” she says. “Changes get actioned really quickly – whether that’s adding a blog or making a tweak to a page or to our SEO - and that gives me peace of mind.”

Caroline continues: “A lot of web developers say ‘here’s your website, see you later’ but Target Ink offers that vital ongoing support. In the first year, I think it’s particularly important, as there are naturally changes which need making as clients feedback on how easy a new website is to navigate.”

“Websites can go stale very quickly if they aren’t kept up-to-date but businesses often don’t bother making changes, as they are worried they will cost money. Alternatively, clients are left to add content themselves using a content management system which they find tricky to use, so they just give up or, worse still, they do something to break the website and have no support to sort out. Target Ink is always on hand.”

Caroline explains that the electric car business is fast-moving and there are changes happening within the industry all the time, as well as new charging options to talk about. 

“It’s really competitive and we have to keep up with our competitors,” she says. “Our website is a key part of that strategy; it absolutely has to be right and Target Ink helps us to make that a reality.”

Intuitive navigation focusing on user experience

Although the HCCS website is still fairly new, Caroline says it has already ‘made a difference’ to the business.

“It looks so much more professional and I have noticed quite a few more enquiries coming in,” she says. “More potential clients are finding us and, importantly, converting, while the bounce rate has gone down considerably.”
